Drop in filter won't fit into my 24-105mm lens. Any idea?

Can someone help me . I just bought the R5 with the 24mm to 105mm and I recently bought the drop in filter but I can't put the lens and the filter together. Any suggestions please.

Like I asked in the other thread:

Exactly which camera, lens, adapter and filter do you have?

I been trying to line up the red dots and it doesn't get inside to turn it. Like it's not meant for it. But I bought it for that particular camera the R5

The RF 24-105 only takes thread in filters that mount on the front of the lens.

Lets see if we can sort this out. You have a R5 and a RF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM Lens? Correct? The Canon Drop-In Filter Mount Adapter EF-EOS R is a lens adapter designed for attaching any EF or EF-S-mount lens to the EOS R mirrorless digital camera. If you have the above mentioned lens that came with the R5 the ring adapter it will not fit and is not necessary.
