Recently purchased a canon r8 body only. Looking for a good point and shoot lens that is versatile.

Would appreciate some budget options as well as the best suggestions.

Greetings,

We need some additional information please.  Point and shoot?  Describe how you envision using your camera for us.  Most of my photography interests are...  Landscapes (rolling hills), portraits (family and children), sports (my kids play volleyball), architecture (cityscapes, buildings), nature (birds, animals, bugs and flowers)?

Would you mostly shoot indoors, outdoors, a little of both?  I'm ok using a flash, don't want to use a flash indoors unless I have to, etc.

I'd start here.  Canon Mirrorless Lenses: RF | Canon U.S.A, Inc.

Then see if what you like is available refurbished.  You might save a little money or might be able to buy two lenses 😁

Refurbished Lenses - Lenses - Consumer Catalog (canon.com)

A better idea of the types of photography you want to and a maximum dollar amount might be helpful for us 😉

The RF18-150 is probably one of the best all-around RF-S lenses.

Well, you can still use the 18-150, just leaves a lot of pixels unused. 8^)

While that may be true it wouldn't be the best choice for an R8. The best has to be the RF24-70mm F2.8 L IS USM.

Way more budget friendly might be the EF 24–105mm f/3.5–5.6 IS STM with adapter. (might have to check used market though)

You might want to also take a look at the RF 24-240mm F4-6.3 IS USM lens it's $900 from Canon.

This gives you a really wide range of focal lengths suitable for a lot of general photography plus it's not so large or heavy.
