Did you mean:

Canon EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS or Sigma 18-250mm f3.5-6.3 DC for EOS 50D?

Thinking of swapping my Canon EF-S 18-135mm for something with a bit more zoom. Saw an article that recommended Canon EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS or Sigma 18-250mm f3.5-6.3 DC for my 50D. Anything that makes one stand out over the other? Or other recommendations?

If you already have a 70-300 and 18-135, then aren't you covered?

Exactly. The 18-135 is a very good lens. It will stand up to a little cropping to cover a 200mm FOV.

I wouldn't recommend either of these but it depends on how critical you are. If you want so-so IQ than either is OK. Toss a coin! These are 'soccer mom' lenses for people that don't want to use their iphone anymore.

So, any recommendations on a quality lens of say @ 20 - 250mm?

No!

Any zoom lens that has a 10/1 zoom ratio has got to sacrifice IQ in order to be possible. If I am going to use a DSLR like the 50D, I want a decent quality lens. Otherwise I would just use an iphone. But it is all what you want and expect and if you are happy and satisfied with the photos more power to you. The choice between the two you are considering is a toss up. So buy the cheapest one or flip a coin.

I agree.  There is nothing here worth changing.  FL is covered 18 - 300 and the 18-135 has better IQ than either of the WA zooms.  Comparatively there is virtually nothing to gain by adding 65mm on the lower end of his lens range.  The 70-300 is much better at 135 - 300 than a 18 - 200 would ever be.  My vote is save your cash $$$.
