Canon EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS or Sigma 18-250mm f3.5-6.3 DC for EOS 50D?

Thinking of swapping my Canon EF-S 18-135mm for something with a bit more zoom. Saw an article that recommended Canon EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS or Sigma 18-250mm f3.5-6.3 DC for my 50D. Anything that makes one stand out over the other? Or other recommendations?

1. Why do you think that you need to replace your current lens.
2. What are your shooting conditions.
3. Are you in low light while using these lenses.
4. Are you using the built in flash or a speedlite if flash is being used.
5. How do you intend to use these lenses.

OP said he has an 18-135 and wants more reach. Looking at a 200 or 250mm zoom.

The way that the OP wrote the opening post. Sounded like they wanted to completely replace their current lens. The zoom ratio of the lenses mentioned above are way more than the 1/3 rule. That's why I asked more questions.

1. I want a lens to compliment the Canon 70-300 I use for wildlife. 

2. shooting daylight

3. low light conditions not a factor

4. no flash

5. Outdoor, scenery and wildlife primarily

Since you already own the 70-300mm lens you don't need to upgrade your 18-135mm lens. The 70-300mm lens already covers part of that focal length. As @ebiggs1 pointed outed large zoom ratios are not so good. These lenses are usually variable aperture lenses. The more you zoom in the less light enters the camera. You will have to increase your shutter speed or ISO to account for this.

You may want to look at adding a second lens to give you higher focal lengths.  One disadvantage of zoom lenses with very high ranges is that image quality will be reduced.

Perhaps adding an EF 70-300mm would be a better choice.

My other lens is a Canon 70-300, which I like for wildlife.

If you already have a 70-300 and 18-135, then aren't you covered?
