I just received my new Canon 50 mm 1.2 L lens. I have several Canon L lens. I'm saying this because none of those other lens have any noise while focusing as does this 50 mm L lens. Should I replace it with another one? This is typical for an L lens? My 70-200 certainly doesn't make this noise. I later realized I was too close and that it was searching and once I moved back, it didn't make the noise. Thank you.

When mine is on my camera and I use it, I can not hear anything. I don't have my ear on the lens, however. I can not hear my 70-200mm zoom either.
BTW, I don't shoot video that may be a different story, I don't know.

Hi! Thank you for responding. I don't have my ear on the lens either. It's just that when the shutter is pressed halfway down and it's searching it makes this noise.
