24-105mm f/4 L IS USM white box lenses from 5D Mark III kit

There are 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM lenses being sold in many places as being seperated from 5D Mark III kits in white boxes with no warranty card. What is the official status of these lenses? If they truly are being removed from the 5D kit they should be covered under warranty by their serial number as they would be if purchased with the kit, correct? What should I look for prior to purchasing one to assure it will will carry a Canon USA warranty? Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

ps- if a kit is purchased does it include warranty cards for both body and lense?

The white box lens come in a white box, hence their name, with the full warranty and documentation, and are brand new.

That is of course, the original buyer didn't open it and take it out first.

BTW, that lens (24-105mm f4) is a work horse and is on my 1D most of the time. You will love it.

If a US model lens is purchased as new from a Canon authorized dealer in the USA, a one year warranty card will be included with the lens. A warranty card is included with all new products sold by authorized dealers. Thank you, I've bought bodies only and not kits so I don't know if a kit comes with one 'kit' warranty card or individual warranty cards for the body and lense. If the latter is true then obviously something isn't right as why wouldn't they just transfer the card from the kit box to the white box for the lense. Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you.

There is a separate warranty card for the body and one for the lens.
