The 5100 error can be caused by a paper jam. There are 3 videos that Canon has created that you may watch which cover this issue. Please use the following links:

This error can also be caused when the encoder/timing strip requires cleaning. To perform this, please follow the steps on this page:

If the 5100 error persists, your PIXMA MX492 would require service.
