I have a Pixma MP830 running on Windows XP.
In the middle of a scan project, I suddenly got the error message, "Release the scanner lock switch and turn the power off and back on."
The scanner lock switch was already in the unlock position, but I moved the switch back and forth a few times, turned the power off and back on. No luck. The message is still there. I tried it a few more times without success. I then uninstalled and reinstalled the Canon software that came with the machine. Still no luck. The message is still there.
I contacted Canon support and they said there's no solution. Not repairable.
As a last-ditch effort to see if there's any hope here, has anyone who has had this problem been able to solve it?
Thanks for whatever help you can offer.

Same problem I am facing. Surprising that there is no solution to this error.

Thank you for reaching out!
This unit is 18 years old and was retired in 2012. As a result, all official Canon support has ceased, and no new software or drivers will be developed.
