printer insists on printing to a file

For the last two weeks, the printer driver refuses to print. To clarify: It wants to "print" to a file. Canon tech support has advised me to uninstall and reinstall the drivers, which I've done several times, to no avail. This is incredibly frustrating.  Any advice will be appreciated.

Hi, pfeldman!

So that the Community can help you better, we will need to know exactly which model of printer you're using, and the version of Windows or Mac in use.

If this is a time-sensitive matter, our US-based technical support team is standing by, ready to help 24/7 via Email at http://bit.ly/EmailCanon or by phone at 1-800-OK-CANON (1-800-652-2666) weekdays between 10 AM and 10 PM ET (7 AM to 7 PM PT).

Thanks and have a great day!

I have a Canon PIXMA MX922 printer.  The operating system on my computer is Windows 8.  The connection from the computer to the printer is wired Ethernet (via a router).  We've tested two computers that are running Windows 7, and both of those are able to print to this printer.  So, I'm guessing that there is a problem with Canon's Windows 8 driver for this printer.
