my Mac computer, using High Sierra, has evidently been upgraded to 64 bit capability but my Canon MP Navigator EX 5.0 is only set at 32 bit and when I try to scan a document to the computer, i get an error message that the "App" is not optimized for my Mac. I have gone online looking for an updated driver but have not found any.

I assume this is the "conact us" you referred to in your email.
I have an iMac and a Canon MG8220 which has been working fine as both a printer and a scanner until my system upgraded to the current OS Ojave 10.14.1. The printer continues to work but when I want to scan it says that my printer needs to be optimized. I tried to do a hard wire connection (normally operating on bluetooth) but that didn't help. It has been a great printer and just needs some driver support for the scan function. Can you Help?
Thank You
Thomas

Hi peregrino2,
Canon does not have updated drivers or software that were developed for use with the PIXMA MG8220 when used under the Mac OS Mojave (10.14) operating system, and there are not plans to update the drivers; however, you can try downloading and installing the Mac OS 10.13 High Sierra versions of the drivers and software from the Canon USA website here to see if this will allow you to continue scanning and using the other functions of the printer under the Mojave operating system.
You will want to download and reinstall the CUPS, Scanner and ICA Drivers from the DRIVERS section of the webpage, and the MP Navigator program from the SOFTWARE section of the page.
Prior to downloading the drivers, please ensure that the High Sierra operating system is selected in the OPERATING SYSTEM field on the page so that drivers for that operating system are displayed. Please also install the items in the order listed above.
Please note, since the High Sierra versions of the drivers and software were developed prior to Mojave being released, they may not work with the Mojave operating system. Also, in the event that they do work, we cannot guarantee that they will continue to work if a future Mac OS update or upgrade is installed on your Mac.
