opening the cover just after turning it on before the error could pop up, waiting for the cartridges to move out about 1/3-1/2 of the way out then shutting the cover. Did the trick after isopropanol cleaning did nothing. So thank to whoever it was above who shared that tip!

Just finally got around to buying ink and it wasnt cheap. so glad this isn't a throw it out issues. yay for me, yay for the environment.

Thank you!!! I have an MG7120 and I accidently unplugged wrong cord, to my printer and came into this error code b200. This worked. The call for assistance # provided was useless.

🙂

@ WalterEgo (message 19 posted 07-05-2014). Thank you a lot. Your procedure worked for my MP550. I had tried a number of other procedures and was about to get rid of that printer.

I'm adding to this, your fix actually ended up NOT working, when I went to print the same error popped up. I had to actualy throw away the printer and buy a new one!

OMG, how did you even figure this out?!?!  I followed your steps, and it worked FIRST TRY.  I'm stunned.  I award you all the internets!

Thank you bebebeck!!

EDIT: It is only a temporary solutions, since I'm getting the error again, but its great if you need it to print one time.

to hiyjnx80 - You couldn'thave said it better. Canon makes money on  ink and they sell fairly cheap machines, although I must say that I have had my PIXMA iP4800 for quite a while. It's the same thing that Eastman Kodak did with film and cheap cameras.

The cost of these printers should relate back to the negative externalities that the companies generate - they are the ones who should pay for repurposing/recycling their products, and not private or government organizations.

BTW I have tried everything listed on every website that I could find, including yours (even replacng all the last switch out of an ink cartridge). Nothing worked. And unfortunately mine is not a scanner also, so your final fix was not possible.

I have a call into their "help" line but who knows... they will probably say the same thing to me - buy a new printer. And this is just after I purchased a new supply of inks - 2 of each, some of which I have opened.

Thanks for your detailed instructions. Just wish they had worked.

Just gently push or pull it to the left

Thanks for this thought, hyjink80. The only way they will change is for Congress to regulate them and force them to pay for the recycling/repurposing. Each Canon manufacturing plant should have a repurposing/recycling facility attached. They are putting the entire cost onto local governments or private recycling centres. Negative Externalities.

B200fix - did not work for me.

Unfortunately this did not work for me.
