What is error 5 on an MP250 printer?

I installed an original ink cartridge on my MP250 Canon printer.  The printeris giving an error message that it does not recognize the ink cartridge. The printer is also flashing an error 5 continuously.  How do I fix this problem?

Hello williamsiapno.

The E5 error indicates that the cartridge may not be installed or is not recognized.  The MP250 uses PG-210, PG-210XL, CL-211 and CL-211XL cartridges.
