USB connection not working

I have a MX472 which I use wirelessly on a laptop that has Windows 10. I am housesitting so am trying to print via USB cable. I did this successfully at this same home a few months ago.

This time however it does not start printing and gives a generic ERROR message. When I run the troubleshooter, it cannot find any problems. I have no idea what to do. My only thought is that the cable is bad but I am 98% sure it is the same cable I used prior.

Hello.

 

Try installing the latest drivers for the printer.  Visit www.usa.canon.com to download the latest drivers for the MX472.
