TS5320 Burns through ink

canonInkWaster

I have a TS5320 printer that I bought in 2020. I don't use it that often, but I noticed when I first purchased it, it seems to run through ink incredibly quickly. I called customer support and they said it didn't sound normal so they offered to send me free ink cartridges. Things seemed ok. I didn't pay much attention to it and printed some things here and there. Again, I don't use this printer very often so just got around to replacing the black ink cartridge again, with a Canon cartridge (which I usually don't do because they're such a rip off but there doesn't seem to be a lot of 3rd party options for this printer). I have just printed about 40 document pages like account statements and such. Only black ink, no images. I looked at my printer status and it shows my black ink level at about 60%! This is either a faulty, crap printer that Canon failed to properly diagnose and fix originally or an incredible abuse on Canon's part to squeeze more money out of customers on ink refills. Has anyone else had this issue?
