Solid amber and green lights upon plugging in then turning on Canon Pixma MG2922

I’m having an issue with the Canon Pixma MG2922… the solid amber light turns on when the power cord is plugged in and the solid green light joins the solid amber light upon turning on the printer.  I’m using both a iPhone SE 2020 using Software Version 15.2.1 and iPad Air A2588 using iPad OS Version 18.7.2.   I bought this almost new, hardly used Canon Pixma MG2922 secondhand from another person.

I searched the community first and found a person having exactly the same problem as I’m having.   See this link for details https://community.usa.canon.com/t5/Desktop-Inkjet-Printers/Canon-PIXMA-MG2922-Solid-Orange-Alarm-Light/td-p/331679 to refer to the page I found concerning the solid amber and solid green lights.  Please guide me as to what I should do.  Thanks!

Understanding the Amber and Green Lights

When you see solid amber and green lights on your Canon Pixma MG2922, it indicates a service error. This issue often arises after the printer has been plugged in or turned on.

Steps to Resolve the Issue

Follow these steps to troubleshoot the problem:

  1. Turn Off the Printer
    • Ensure the printer is completely powered down.
  2. Disconnect the Power Cable

    • Unplug the printer from the electrical outlet.
  3. Check for Obstructions

    • Open the printer cover and look for
      • Foreign objects, such as paper clips or debris, that may be blocking the printer's mechanisms.
  4. Reconnect and Power On

    • Close the printer cover, reconnect the power cable, and turn the printer back on.

I neglected to say this was the very first time I plugged in the printer. Just to recap, I plugged the power cable to the electrical outlet and printer, and the solid amber light came on. When I pressed the power button, the solid green light joined the solid amber light with no movement of the scanner or ink carriage. Pressing the power button to turn off the printer, the printer won't shut off and both the solid amber and green lights stay on.

When disconnecting the power cable, should I unplug it from both the electrical outlet and the printer? Upon opening the print cover, I don't see any foreign objects or debris. While the printer is disconnected from the power cable, should I try to move the ink carriage back and forth to see what happens?

If it is a new printer make sure all the orange packing protection and tape inside the front and back of the printer is completely removed.
