I'm having the same issue. Canon MX420, Mac OS X Yosemite. I've been using the printer/scanner for 5 months and all of a sudden it stopped working and I'm getting the same error message (code 2.249.0).
I have tried the following:
- turned printer on/off
- un/plugged printer from power source
- un/plugged USB connection from laptop
- deleted and reinstalled printer/scanner from system preferences>Printers & Scanners
None of these has worked. I managed to make it work via WiFi but I'm not always connected to it so this is not a long-term solution.
