Poor Quality Photos

Hello,

I have a Canon TS8050 that is a few years old.  It has been used for printing documents.  Today, I tried to print a photo and the results were terrible.  I used Canon Matte paper and double checked the settings.  The print is quite dark, colors are washed out, and details not sharp. Any thoughts on what I should check next? Thanks.
