I am trying to initially set up this printer- pixma ts3722. It will not let me connect to my iPhone iOS 18.1.1 . I get as far as joining the network and it says it is unable to join.

Greetings,

Can you please clarify the following.

Are you trying to print directly from your mobile device to the printer using wireless direct or are you connecting the printer and mobile device to a wireless network and printing with both devices connected to the same network?

I am trying to get the printer set up on my home WiFi so that I can print from my phone and also from our computer. It just won’t get far enough into the process for me to input the password for wifi

Greetings,

Thanks for your reply, this is helpful. I suspect this is a simple network configuration issue.

Here's what I suggest.  Log in to your router and confirm a 2.4 GHz broadcast that uses WPA2 encryption is configured.  If the router is dual or tri band, I suggest you create a dedicated 2.4 GHz broadcast using this encryption standard.  Options: You can give each broadcasting network a unique name or try temporarily disabling the 5Ghz broadcast and connect to the 2.4 then turn the other networks back on.

While the printer is marketed as dual band, I am not aware of any consumer grade hardware that broadcasts 5G n standard.  If it supported AC or AX standard It would be possible.  It's nothing more than clever marketing.  Go with 2.4 GHz, WPA2 and you'll be fine.

Specs from the printer support portal :

Standard: IEEE 802.11b/g/n/a
Security: WPA-PSK (TKIP/AES), WPA2-PSK (TKIP/AES), WPA3-SAE (AES)
Wireless LAN Frequency Band(s): 2.4 GHz / 5 GHz
Wireless Direct Connection Capable/ Wireless Connect Capable: Yes
