I own a HP wireless Deskjet printer which I think is awful. I am looking at purchasing a Pixma TS3722 from Walmart. It being the smallest and simplest for me to try. I have a Windows 10 Desktop computer which I had built many years ago. It will not tale Windows 11 and it is not wireless.
I have been connecting my computer and my printers via an ethernet cable. No wireless. I have COX communications as an internet provider via a modem/router gateway. I also own a 17" Acer Chromebook and that is wireless to the Cox Gateway router/modem. I use the Chromebook as a backup to my Windows PC.
What I am interested in with the TS3722 Canon printer is the set up. I had a awful time with the HP as they require you to do the setup wirelessly and after it is set up and the HP Smart APP and the driver are installed you can then use the ethernet cable. Both the printer and the computer have to be on the same network to set up. My Windows Desktop is not wireless, so I have to set up via my cell phone or another device with both the printer and that device being on the same network. It is very confusing and I could not get it done. So, I am looking at trying the Canon to see if it is easy to set up using an Ethernet cable from printer to computer???? Can anyone help me with this? It would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Thomas Spero

Greetings,
I'd like to start by stating the following. You cannot connect an Ethernet cable from a printer to your computer for connectivity. If you're going to use a wired ethernet connection you'll have to connect that to your Cox modem/router.
Devices connected to the Cox modem router regardless of interface (wired or wireless) will be able to utilize a printer. The printer in question is largely supported under Windows or Mac OS, also iOS or Android. You may not get full functionality under Chrome OS ( this is true any brand printer).
One very important note. the TS3722 does not have any internet port. It only offers USB, wireless and wireless direct connectivity.
Drivers, help and support for the TS3722 are available here:

My first Canon printer was the Pixma TS3720 which is basically the same printer as the TS3722 but has no lcd screen. I did not keep it because it would not print 8x10 borderless prints on glossy paper, or any paper for that matter. Other than that I had no problem with the printer. I gave it to a good friend who needed to print from mobile devices and I purchased a Canon Pixma MG3620 which I find to be a very good printer. But I digress. The setup for the TS3720 was simple, I unpacked the printer, made very sure to remove all shipping tape, including the protection on the ink cartridges, powered up the printer, installed the cartridges, downloaded the drivers and software to my pc, and installed them making sure to connect the printer to my Windows 11 pc when the software instructed me to do so not before using a USB/printer cable. The same for when I installed the MG36520 printer. Wireless and USB connection for the TS3722 cannot be active at the same time. I got around that by enabling printer sharing on my PC which allows my Windows tablets, one is 10 and one is 11 to be able to print wirelessly. There are apps that can be added to the my pc and any smartphone which will allow the phones to print as well. This is the correct cable and it works with Windows 10 as well as with Windows 11

I made a mistake when I said " It will not tale Windows 11 and it is not wireless. " It should have said It will not take Windows 11. Also, I was wrong in saying "I have been connecting my computer and my printers via an ethernet cable." It should read I have been connecting my computer and my printers via an USB cable. I was also wrong about " I had a awful time with the HP as they require you to do the setup wirelessly and after it is set up and the HP Smart APP and the driver are installed you can then use the ethernet cable." and it should have read I had an awful time with the HP as they require you to do the setup wirelessly and after it is set up and the HP Smart APP and the driver are installed you can then use the USB cable. Also, wrong " So, I am looking at trying the Canon to see if it is easy to set up using an Ethernet cable from printer to computer???? Should have read So, I am looking at trying the Canon to see if it is easy to set up using an USB cable from printer to computer????
Sorry for all the wrong info.

Rick, sorry for all the wrong info. Please see my added information. I want to hook up the printer using a USB cable and not get involved in wireless and using another device to hook up the printer to the PC. The HP was very complicated.

Thank you, Derrick I had some wrong info in my post. Please see my added information. What you said about the connection (connect the printer to my Windows 11 pc when the software instructed me to do so not before using a USB/printer cable.) is exactly what I want to do. Hook up the printer to the PC using a USB cable when the instructions tell you to connect it and not before. You say this is easy with the TS3722? It was impossible with the HP printer. Awful! Thank you for your help
