Can't get my Pixma495 to set up by USB port with the correct cable. I no longer have internet (use phone hotspot) and need to use the cable. Help!

Hi the4jimmies,
It is unclear if you are setting the MP495 up with a version of Windows or Mac operating system. You will find recommendations for both systems below:
Windows OS
Make sure the printer is on and not displaying an error message.
Make sure the USB cable is disconnected.
Remove the printer from the list of printers.
Restart the computer.
If you have the setup disc that came with the printer, install it into the computer and reinstall the driver.
Connect the USB cable when instructed to do so.
If you do not have the setup disc connect the USB cable and add the printer through Devices & Printer.
Perform a test print.
Mac OS
Make sure the printer is on and not displaying an error message.
Make sure the USB cable is disconnected.
Remove the printer from the list of Printer & Scanner.
Restart the computer.
Connect the USB cable.
Confirm the printer is added back to the Printer & Scanner list.
Perform a test print.
