Pixma 2120 stopped connecting to Mac. Cables are OK. Do I need to download and reinstall driver?

 to help but when I tried to download driver i got message "mounting failed"

so I could not add printer in system preferences/print

I have spent way too much time trying to get this 2120 working. 

This was my 4th Canon but I'm done
