Hi All. This is a long shot if anyone can remember that far back when this was the printer to get.
Ive had this Pixma IP4300 printer for a good 12-14 years from new and its never let me down once-
Until today.
5 yellow light flash shows as print head defective. buttons on printer do nothing and just go out when pressed and back on when let go.
Ive had the printer head out and thouroughly cleaned including the rubber stoppers and there is no colour draing through now. thoroughly dried and exact same thing.
Ive uninstalled all drivers to set up from new but same again 5 flashes.
Could anyone advise if its worth me buying a new printer head from ebay for £28 from China or cut my losses. problem is i have at least 15 ink cartridges that i will have to dump as none of the newer printers take these cartridges.
Its also a mindfield out there. i want to stick with canon and have looked at the cheaper end under £100 and also the ones that take bottles instead of cartridges but im so out of date with tech im at a loss of where to go next.
Ive watched so many youtube videos today and all sound good until they tell you about the cons. cartridges for the newer printers only hold around 3ml and the ink bottles have a sponge at the back and once thats soaked the printer turns into a brick and stops working. I dont print much maybe 2-3 sheets a week.
Any advise would be greatly appretiated. Jim

While our Forum Community members are welcome to chime in, the Canon PIXMA iP4300 has been retired. That means we do not offer support for the printer or updated drivers.
