Hi, I have this printer for few years now, I've always bought ink cartridge from 3rd parties, but compatible of course. Today, I changed 2 ink cartridges and the printer gave me an 1660 error code. switch on and off, same error but for different ones, always different, even the one I haven't changed. How can I reset the printer since I only have access to the on/off button? Thanks

Hi Delph751! Thanks for posting in the Canon Community Forum. I see that your PIXMA TS9020 is displaying an error after you installed two third-party ink cartridges.
The 1660 error indicates that one or more of the cartridges is not being detected (printer thinks they are not installed). While this specific error is being displayed, you will not be able to use any of the printer’s functions. The printer is protecting itself from the damage that can occur if the wrong cartridge is installed or if there is no cartridge installed. All you can do is use the Power button to turn the printer off.
You can also open the printer to verify that the ink cartridges are properly installed. The inks should move to the replacement position if they are not already there. If you haven’t verified that all the inks are properly installed, please do that. Please be sure to check all the cartridges because one may have popped loose while you were installing the new ones.
If they are all installed properly, I recommend that you take the new cartridges out and place the previous cartridges back in (if you still have them). If the 1660 code goes away, that means that at least one of the new cartridges is not working. Either they are the wrong cartridge, or they are damaged.
I do recommend checking the cartridge number again. Cartridge numbers can look similar. The TS9020 uses the following ink cartridges:
PGI-270 PGBK
CLI-271 BK
CLI-271 C
CLI-271 M
CLI-271 Y
CLI-271 GY
Since you are using third-party inks, please make sure they are comparable to the above cartridges.
If the correct cartridges are being used and the error goes away when you install the previous cartridges, that means that one of the new cartridges is not working. There is no way to tell which one, so you can try replacing one and then the other.
I must warn you that Canon does not recommend the use of third-party inks. The printer is only tested with Canon ink, so we do not know how the printer will work with third-party cartridges of if those cartridges can damage the printer over time or shortly after the first use.
If you don’t have the previous cartridges to test the printer, you will need to try other new cartridges. I do recommend purchasing and using Canon cartridges instead, but you do have the choice of using third-party inks. If the error comes back with the new cartridges, that means the printer itself is damaged and is no longer detecting the cartridge properly.
The printer does come with a one-year warranty. If you purchased a warranty extension directly from Canon on or around the date of purchase, I recommend that you create a Canon Account, register the printer, and call us at 1-800-652-2666. Our agents are available Monday through Friday from 9:00 A.M. to 6:00 PM Eastern time.
You can create your Canon Account and register the printer at the following website:

If the warranty has expired, it may be more cost effective to purchase a replacement than to pay someone to fix your scanner. Through our Canon Upgrade Program, we can offer you a discount and free shipping on a new printer. If you are interested in that, please call (866) 443-8002 from 9:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. (Eastern Time), Monday through Friday to speak with one of our sales agents who would be happy to help you.
I hope that this information helps. Thanks for choosing Canon.
