Greetings ,

I didn't find any specific instructions for removing the printhead on the TS6420. To remove a printhead the carrier has to be in the center of the printer. Remove the ink cartridges and then move its lock lever.

Before removing, I perform a cleaning with the printhead installed.

the printhead is on the actual ink cartridge? I'm really starting to think it's not my issue

brand new two ink cartridges. but I'm getting nothing but blue tint faded prints or it kinda has like these almost blue digital splotches. if that makes any sense. or if you've ever experienced that.

Blotchy printing on the PIXMA TS642 may be due to clogged print head nozzles or low ink levels. Try cleaning the print head and checking the ink levels to resolve the issue.

Causes of Blotchy Printing on PIXMA TS642

Blotchy printing on the PIXMA TS642 can result from several common issues. Here are the main causes:

Clogged Print Head Nozzles

  • Symptoms: Blurry or uneven prints, streaks, or missing colors.
  • Solution: Perform a print head cleaning. This can often resolve issues with clogged nozzles.

Low Ink Levels

  • Symptoms: Faded colors or inconsistent print quality.
  • Solution: Check the ink levels in the FINE cartridges. Replace any empty cartridges to ensure optimal printing.

Steps to Resolve Blotchy Printing

To address blotchy printing, follow these steps:

  1. Check Ink Levels:
    • Ensure that all cartridges have sufficient ink.
  2. Clean the Print Head:

    • Use the printer's maintenance settings to clean the print head. You may need to repeat this process if the first attempt does not improve print quality.
  3. Print a Nozzle Check Pattern:

    • This will help determine if the print head is functioning correctly. If the pattern shows issues, further cleaning may be necessary.
  4. Deep Cleaning:

    • If regular cleaning does not resolve the issue, perform a deep cleaning of the print head.
  5. Replace Cartridges:

    • If problems persist after cleaning, consider replacing the FINE cartridges, as they may be damaged or empty.
