In the middle of printing, the lights started blinking and I got error code 1684: above (BK) ink tanks cannot be recognized.
The cardridge was not empty and it was working fine all this time. I followed all instructions available online (resetting, cleaning head and connections, unplugged from power source for 10 minutes, reinstalled cartridges, held down power button, etc. etc.). I even bought a new (canon) cartridge, but that one was also not recognized. I also followed a couple instructions found here with similar issues on different printer.
How can I resolve this issue, the printer works fine otherwise and is not ready for the dump (bought in 2020).

Hi Skup,
With your PIXMA TS6320 powered on, please open the cover.
Please take a picture of the ink tanks that are installed in your PIXMA TS6320 and then please post that image to your reply of this message.
I look forward to assisting you further.

Hi Patrick, thanks for checking.

Hello Patrick: Seeing that you are a product expert on why a Canon printer (in my case MX922) won't recognize a genuine Canon cartridge, I would be very grateful if might be able to shed light on the issue that I posted on 10/27:
"I use only genuine Canon printer ink cartridges. When I received a notification that my printer ink for 250xl PGBK cartridge was almost out, I replaced it with a brand new one. Having done so, the printer does not recognize the brand new cartridge and it still shows a flashing red light and the printer estimated ink level for PGBK shows a red "X" over it. When I try to access the printer from my Mac, I get a message from the printer function on my computer saying that a cartridge is out of ink and it became difficult for me to access the printer from my computer. When I try to make a copy directly from the printer (without using the computer), the copy function works and the document looks OK? Any thoughts on next steps for me to get to the bottom of this issue? Another related issue is that in trying to troubleshoot this issue I mixed up which is the old cartridge and which is the new one. Is there any way for me to tell which is which? "
I would very much appreciate guidance as to next steps for me. Thank you. rbon123

Hi Patrick, can you please give me further instructions or is this printer dead?

Hi Skup,
Please remove the BK ink tank and look in the slot where the ink tank just was. Please make sure that the metal contacts are not blocked or crooked, which would keep your printer from detecting the BK ink tank.
I see that you are using 581 ink tanks, which means that the TS6320 you are using was purchased outside of the United States.
If the error persists, your TS6320 would require service. Please contact Canon in your region to obtain your available service options.
