PIXMA TS3522 Thick Black Line on scanned documents. Problem never fixed by Canon

I have a problem on a PIXMA TS3522 MF Printer. A Thick Black Line appears on scanned documents, but not on documents printed from my computer. This MF printer was purchased in November 2025. You would think Canon would have solved this problem by now!
I guess I shouldn't buy $50.00 printers from Walmart anymore!

The scanner element has failed, there is no fix. Your only choice is to replace the printer.

Hi Laverne Cooks! Thanks for contributing to the Canon Community. I see that your PIXMA TS3522 is not scanning properly (black line in the middle of scans).

Black lines down the middle of scans and copies (not prints) normally indicates that the scanning unit is no longer working properly. There are light bulbs on the scan bar that moves during the scanning process. If some of those light bulbs have burnt out, then you will get a black line in your scans. All we can recommend is that you try turning the printer off and disconnecting the power cable to see if that helps.

If that does not help and you purchased a warranty extension (CarePAK) directly from Canon on or around the date of purchase, I recommend contacting Canon support. The printer does have a one-year warranty, but a CarePAK extends the number of years for product support. If the printer is just a few weeks out-of-warranty, and you did not purchase a CarePAK, I recommend contacting Canon anyway to see if an exception can be made.

You can call toll-free 1(800) 652-2666 to reach Canon support if you have created a Canon account and registered the printer. If prompted for your phone number, please provide the number that you used when creating the Canon account.  If you have not created a Canon account, please use the following link to create one and register your printer:

https://myprofile.americas.canon.com/us/signin

When the page opens, please click on the link at the bottom which reads: “Don’t have an account? Create one.”

Please note that Canon will need a receipt to determine when the warranty starts and ends. You can upload the receipt to your Canon Account when you are registering the printer.

If the warranty expired more than a few weeks ago, it may be more cost effective to purchase a replacement than to pay someone to fix your scanner. Through our Canon Upgrade Program, we can offer you a discount and free shipping on a new printer. If you are interested in that, please call 1 (866) 443-8002 from 9:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. (Eastern Time), Monday through Friday to speak with one of our sales agents who would be happy to help you.

Thanks again.
