PIXMA TR4722 printer help needed please, unable to print Windows printer test page

I just installed my printer, and ran the Windows Printer Test Page.  The only thing that printed was the logo in peacock blue.  I could see a "ghost image" of something like looked like it wanted to print in black, but it's unreadable.  What should I do to get the other colours to work?

Make sure the black cartridge is installed properly, shipping tape removed from the cartridge and cartridge seated properly.

I did as you suggested (there was no tape on the cartridge), re-seated it very carefully and re-ran my print job (a tax spreadsheet) - it still printed the black very lightly, it was unreadable.  So just as another test, I printed a recipe for cupcakes.  The colour photo printed up, but the black type for the recipe still printed up so lightly that again it's unreadable.  This is brand new out of the box.  I bought it before Christmas and finally had time to set it up.  I've lost the receipt from Walmart.

Any other suggestions?  Thanks in advance.

Could be a faulty black cartridge. Remove it and lightly tap it on a flat service then reinstall it.

Your printer uses the black pigment ink cartridge for text and the color cartridge for everything else.

Run a nozzle check and see what the results are.

I personally would buy a new black cartridge and try it, first as suggested run  the nozzle check, it may indicate a cause.

I ran nozzle check as suggested.  Black is very very faint, CMY streaky on left side.
Checked amount of ink in cartridges.  CMY approx 80% full, black approx 66% full.
Cleaned print-heads.  CMY now printing okay (but it looks like draft quality which is fine by me, I don't need great quality for what I'm currently doing).
Deep cleaned print heads.  CMY printing okay (draft quality).  Black completely non-existent.

Any other suggestions before I run out and spend money on a new black cartridge even though this one shows as approx 66% full?

TIA.

I got hold of a live support person, who asked me to do the same things I've already done.  It was determined that it's a faulty black ink cartridge, and they're sending a replacement.

Thanks for your help, everyone!
