Hi Kmd2na143! Thanks for contributing to the community. I see that you have a question regarding the printer being stuck in copy mode.

The printer has four functions that you can do while you are physically standing in front of the printer. You can use the printer to make copies, to scan to a computer, to send a fax. You can also access the setup menu to make changes to the printer. There are four buttons for those four modes (Copy mode, Scan Mode, Fax Mode, and Setup Mode).

The following page from the printer's online manual shows the location of the function buttons (see letters C, D, E, and F):
https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/Manual/All/TR4500%20series/EN/UG/ug-160.html

If you have not yet done so, please try pressing the Scan button (labeled with the letter E in the illustration). That should move the printer over to Scan mode so you can scan to a computer that is connected either wirelessly or with a USB cable. If you press the Fax button (labeled with the letter C), the printer should switch to Fax mode so you can use it to send a fax (if you are using a phone cable to connect the printer to a working phone line).

If you press those buttons, and the printer stays in Copy mode, there might be a problem with the printer. You can try pressing the STOP button (labeled with the letter N in the illustration) to see if it will allow you to switch to another mode. If pressing the Stop button does nothing, please give it a good push and hold it down for three seconds before releasing.

If the Stop button does not help, please try pressing the Back button with the curved arrow symbol (labeled with the letter B in the illustration). Then, press either the Scan button or the Fax button. If you are still stuck in Copy mode, the only other recommendation I can make is to turn the printer off and disconnect the power cable (after it has fully turned off).

Should the problem persist, I recommend that you call Canon support. If you have already created a Canon account and registered the printer, you can reach Canon support by calling toll-free 1-800-652-2666.

If you haven't created a Canon account and registered the printer, you can do that at the following website:

https://myprofile.americas.canon.com/us/signin

After you register the printer, you will be able to see what support options you have by clicking on the Get Support option in the left column of your Canon Account page. If you have phone support available to you, you can call 1-800-652-2666.

If you are able to switch from Copy mode to Scan or Fax mode, then the printer's function buttons are working. You can use them when you are standing in front of the printer to make copies, scan, or fax.

The printer does not have a "Print mode." You can print from a computer whenever you want. You do not need to change the mode on the printer. It can stay copy, scan, or fax mode while you are printing from a computer or mobile device.

If you cannot print, we can help you troubleshoot. We just need you to write back and describe what you are experiencing. Please provide any error codes or messages you are seeing.

Thanks again!
