PIXMA MX922 not recognizing new OEM cartridge

My PIXMA 920 won't recognize a new Canon OEM 250 PGBK XL cartridge. The lamp on the cartridge won't light unless I keep pressure on the top of the cartridge. It will still recognize the old, empty cartridge. I have replaced many of these cartridges before without any problem.
