PIXMA MX492 won't feed paper

Printmark

I'm having an issue with my printer (PIXMA MX492) not picking up any paper through the feeder. There's paper currently in the feeder (8.5x11 sized sheets), but no matter what I do, the printer keeps coming up with the error "Load Paper". I've even tried reinserting the paper and cleaning the print heads to no avail.

What's a good fix in this situation? Is a restart required, do I have to manually clean the feeder? Or is this a situation that requires a full-on reinstall of my printer drivers?

Hi,

If you have not done so, please click HERE for the steps to perform a roller cleaning.

Also, you can try a restart of the printer. While the printer is on, unplug the power cord from the printer. While the power is off, press the power button 5 times. After 60 seconds plug the power cord back in and power on the printer.

If this does not resolve the issue, the printer would require service. If the printer is in it's 1 year warranty, I recommend reaching out to Canon support for your service options. You will need to register your Canon gear HERE to access additional support options.

If the printer is out of warranty, you would qualify for the Canon Upgrade program. This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service or are incompatible with a new or upgraded system. This program allows you the opportunity to purchase a replacement product discounted from the list price. Free ground shipping is included with your purchase.

If you would like to take advantage of this offer, please call our Sales Department at (866) 443-8002 Mon-Sat, 9 AM to 9pm EST excluding holidays.
