PIXMA MG7720 firmware downgrade?

Lauripple

Can the firmware for the MG 7720 be downgraded? My old printer was printing perfect until the last few firmware updates. Each update screwed something up. Not only will it only print photos with yellow ink, but it will not print vertical lines in alignment. Nothing has fixed any of it. I’d love to just reset the firmware back to 1.0. Anyone know how to do that?

And just to add, going into settings and telling it to “reset all” does not fix this. I’ve done every method of cleaning, aligning, and troubleshooting in the printer menu to no avail. I think I’m going to end up chucking it and buying an HP photo printer if there’s no way to erase these firmware updates, which I think are intentionally wrecking good products to make us buy new ones.

While our Forum Community members are welcome to chime in, the Canon PIXMA MG7720 has been retired. That means we do not offer support for the printer or updated drivers. We recommend updating to a more modern printer and reaching out to our Canon Upgrade Program specialist, who will go over the best options for upgrading your printer. They can be reached at 866-443-8002.

Greetings,

The MG7720 will be 10 yrs old this year.  Printer firmware rarely changes a printer's printing capabilities or features.  It is primarily designed to add operating system support and to address security vulnerabilities as they are discovered or occur.   Its not possible to downgrade firmware.
