PIXMA MG7720 Can I print without gray ink?

I am out of grey ink and I can no longer get 271 tank locally, I do print in color one in a while,

do I really need the grey ?,

will it harm the printer to have an empty tank in there ?

Hi scotty47,

Attempting to print with an empty ink tank could damage the printhead.  Because of this, it is recommended that the gray ink tank is replaced.  You can purchase this ink tank directly from Canon:
