PIXMA MG7520 Printing stopped, loose piece of rubber

I've had my 7520 for a couple years and notice it stopped printing all the sudden. I put new ink cartridges in it to no avail. I removed the printhead and cleaned it the best that I could using alcohol, and it looked good.

While doing so, I noticed off on the right-hand side it appears there is some sort of loose piece of rubber that came loose from something. It's a bit difficult to see exactly what it is since ink had made its way in that area.

I've attached a photo for reference. I'm not real sure though if this would prevent pages from printing properly or not. Has anyone had issues with this before? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Hi Brent7088,

It would appear that your PIXMA MG7520 would require service.  You are eligible for Canon's Upgrade Program. This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service, or for some reason are incompatible with a new or upgraded system. This option allows you a one-time opportunity to purchase a replacement product, discounted from the list price.

If you would like to take part in this option, please call our Sales Department at (866) 443-8002 Monday through Saturday, 9am to 9pm. Let them know you have been working with technical support and the Canon Upgrade Program was offered.

The problem I'm having occurred a mere 2 months after I purchased the printer, which I find unacceptable. Attached is a photo of the suspected problem area after I cleaned up the ink a bit, showing the piece of rubber or plastic in question. Can this prevent it from printing at all? I would really prefer to repair and keep this printer rather than throwing more money on a used one that may result in the same issue.

If you have any suggestions I'd appreciate it.
