PIXMA MG3620 Printing double

Oldyellr

I have a PIXMA MG3620 printer purchased about 4 years ago. It's had a lot of use printing pictures for my grand kids. Recently it has started printing fine images and text "double" (laterally displaced about half a millimeter).  I've tried everything, print head alignment, new ink cartridges, but it still does it. Could it just be mechanically worn out? It cost me $50 and today I can get a similar Canon PIXMA TS3420 printer on Amazon for $55. Any ideas? Here is a cropped 3" section of a printed page I scanned.

Thanks, that fixed it.

Looks like this is the second time I asked about this problem. When I cleaned the Encoder Film back in July, it made a little difference, but not a whole lot. I did it again this time, but more thoroughly with a longer alcohol swab. however, it looks like I cleaned the Rail (B) which was quite dirty as well as the Encoder Film (A). I then re-read the instructions and saw I wasn't supposed to clean the Rail (B). Anyway, it did not solve the double printing problem. But it did make the vertical line shift worse. See image below. What can I do now?

Well, no new replies so far. It's the second time I've tried to solve the double printing problem and it's only got worse. I bought this printer 4 years ago for $50 + tax. It's had a good run and must have gone through at least 10x that in ink cartridges. No use kicking a dead horse. Today I ordered the exact same one off Amazon on sale for $80 + tax (CAD). Considering it includes the ink cartridges, which sell for about the same amount, the printer is virtually free. Problem solved.

I've got the exact same problem but mine is 1.5 years old! I've tried everything even the encoder film and it's not fixed.
