Powered the printer on and while warning up it made a loud clunking noise, as though the print head wanted to burst through the side of the casing. When I opened the front of the printer tray a plastic strip with a spring attached to one end was protruding. I pulled on it to reveal the spring had presumably broken off the other end. Not sure if this is fixable. I've started to strip the printer down to see if I can locate the other end of the strip and the rogue spring but it looks to be buried right at the bottom of the unit. Anyone know what this strip is for and where it sits..I'm guessing it's paper tray related.

Hi, the printer is a Canon RMC K10425.
Having dug a little deeper I believe this strip is called an encoder strip.

Thanks for replying, though the number you supplied isn't a model number. Your Canon printer's model number should be displayed prominently on the top and/or front of the unit. Our model numbers typically begin with letters (such as G, GX, TS, TR, MX, MG, MB, MP, iP, or iX) followed by up to 4 numbers.
We hope this helps!

I've ordered the part from a Canon UK affiliate. No clue how to fit, but I've part-disassembled the printer ready for installation. Fingers crossed!
