PIXMA G7020 "printer in use"

David_MN

I have a PIXMA G7020 printer purchased in October 2020 (so almost 4 years old).

I am currently unable to print because every time I order something to print, my Mac connects to the printer and stalls right there, displaying a "printer is in use" message.

There are no other print jobs pending; no other computer accessing the printer.

I recently (maybe 3 weeks ago) my MacOS to Sonoma 14.5. But I printed without issue many times after that update.

The message first appeared within minutes after having successfully printed something.

I have removed and reinstalled the printer/drivers, but this has not fixed the issue.

Any ideas?

I am very disappointed that "The printer is in use" is NOT covered in the Canon owners manual under troubleshooting or indexed anywhere in the Knowledge Base -- and I am not excited at the prospect of paying $19.99 to have a phone agent walk me through a fix that ought to be easily addressed.

I am still having a similar issue as you describe.  Have you found a fix?

Hi adelcasale,

Do you own the PIXMA G7020?

If so, what appears on the display of your printer?

Are you able to print a test page using the steps below?  If not, what error appears?

To print a test page:

1.  Please press the wrench and screwdriver button on your PIXMA G7020 one time.

2.  Press the right arrow 4 times to select Maintenance and press OK.

3.  Press OK on Nozzle Check.

If you get an error code on your G7020's display, please use the link below to view the steps to resolve that error:
