PIXMA G7020 error code 1470

mandy42

I keep getting the error code 1470 - it happened when i turned on the printer tonight, i have not done any changing to the printer heads. I followed the cannon manual to open and relock the printer heads, but I continue to get this error code. I've tried unplugging and turning on/off, but continues with the same error code. Any other suggestions?

Hi mandy42,

You are correct, the 1470 error is related to the printhead of your PIXMA G7020.

To clear this error, please follow the steps on this page:

https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/ErrorCode/G7000%20series/EN/ERR/1470.html?ref=1470

If the 1470 error persists, your PIXMA G7020 may require service.  If your PIXMA G7020 was purchased less than a year ago, please contact one of Canon's Technical Support Representatives via phone or chat to obtain your in warranty options. To contact a Technical Support Representative, please use the link below to log into your My Canon account:

https://mycanon.usa.canon.com

Once logged in, click on your PIXMA G7020 and then click on the Product Support button.  When that page loads, click on either the Phone Support button or the Chat Support button to access support.

If your PIXMA G7020 is out of warranty, you are eligible for Canon's Upgrade Program. This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service, or for some reason are incompatible with a new or upgraded system. This option allows you a one-time opportunity to purchase a replacement product, discounted from the list price.

If you would like to take part in this option, please call our Sales Department at (866) 443-8002 Monday through Saturday, 9am to 9pm. Let them know you have been working with technical support and the Canon Upgrade Program was offered.

Replacing the printhead may resolve this issue, but please note, there is no guarantee that the error will clear after replacing the printhead and there are no returns on parts purchased.  Unfortunately, the 1470 error does not specify whether its one printhead or both, and if it is one printhead, it does not indicate which one.  For information on purchasing and replacing printhead(s) for use with your PIXMA G7020, please use this link:
