Hi Spencer! Thanks for posting in the Canon Community Forum. I see that you have a PIXMA G620 and your colored photos are not printing properly.

I did look at your sample photo, and it is possible you are dealing with clogged nozzles for at least one of the color inks. Either that or the image is printing on the wrong side of the paper. If you think it can be clogged nozzles, the first troubleshooting step would be to print a nozzle check pattern. After that, you can examine that pattern to check if the inks are coming out properly. Information about printing the nozzle check pattern and examining it can be found in the following section of the printer’s manual:

https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/Manual/All/G600%20series/EN/UG/ug-131.html

If the nozzle check is not printing properly, I recommend checking the glass in front of each tank. The ink tanks should be filled before the levels reach the lower mark on that glass. If you see the levels for any of the inks (including black) close to that bottom mark, you will need to refill them (at least up to the halfway mark) before you continue troubleshooting.

If the tanks are above half full for all of the colors, you can do a Cleaning. When you do, the printer will attempt to clear the clogged nozzles with fresh ink. After that Cleaning, you can print another nozzle check pattern to check for improvement.

If the pattern still doesn’t look correct or If it looks the same, you can try a Deep Clean. After the Deep Clean, you should print another nozzle check pattern. If the pattern looks good, you can print a photo to make sure it is now printing properly.

If the nozzle check pattern still shows issues, I recommend that you open the top of the printer to look inside. You can lift up the scanning unit like you would do when you want to fill the ink tanks. Once you have the top open, please look for a ribbon inside the printer that has four tubes attached to it.

The tubes are clear, so you should be able to see the ink inside of it. One of the tubes will have the black ink, and the others, the blue, pink, and yellow. Please take a photo of the ribbon that has the four ink tubes, reply to this message, and attach that picture. It will also help if you take a photo of the last nozzle check pattern that you printed and include it in your reply.

I would only recommend doing two more Deep Cleanings if the nozzle check pattern keeps improving. Also, you should wait at least 6 hours (but no more than 24 hours) between each Deep Clean attempt. Waiting 6 hours gives the fresh ink time to soak through the clog and loosen it (like Drano). You do not want to wait longer than 24 hours because it can give the ink time to dry up again.

If the nozzle check pattern looks fine and your colored prints still don’t look correct, I recommend that you check the encoder film (timing strip) for smudges. You can find the instructions in this web article:

If you need to resolve this issue quickly, I recommend contacting Canon support. If you have not done so, please create a My Canon account and register the printer so you can contact support via chat or phone. If you have already registered your printer, you can sign into your account to check your support options.

Please use the following link to create or open your account:

https://myprofile.americas.canon.com/us/signin

After you create your account and register the printer, you can click on SERVICE & SUPPORT (in the left column). Then, click on the red box that says GET SERVICE & SUPPORT (on the right side of the page) to find information on the phone and chat support options.

If the printer does not qualify for chat or phone support, please write back and provide the photos I mentioned earlier. It will also help if you provide information about the paper that you are using to print your photos (type and manufacturer).

I hope this information helps. Thanks for choosing Canon.
