This normally great printer is giving me trouble. I forget it's age but it's only printed 3800 pages.
A test page showed that a couple of colors weren't printing. I did a cleaning, no better. Tried deep cleaning and got the 5200 error code. Turned the printer off and unplugged, then replugged and restarted. Still couldn't do deep cleaning, same error code. I tried to do an ink flush (refilled the tanks to the top line), which the display said would take 8 minutes. After only a minute or so, the printer stopped making any noises, and the ink levels, which should have noticeably dropped, did not do so. Another test page was even worse than the others.
So, now I'm at a loss for what to try. Any and all recommendations would be welcome. BTW-- firmware is up to date.

Somewhere I came across the fact that you can't do deep cleaning one right after another, that time has to elapse before doing it a second time. So, I performed a deep cleaning several times over the next day or two and the printing seems to be fine now. I never tried to do the ink flush.I will keep your solution in mind if this issue comes up again.

Hi Brewerpaul,
Please perform an ink flush to clear the 5200 error.
If the ink flush stops before 8-9 minutes, please attempt the ink flush again without turning the printer off and on again. If it stops early, "Maintenance / Ink flush" will appear on the display. Press OK and follow the on screen prompts again to restart the ink flush. It will complete this time.
More information regarding the 5200 error can be viewed here:
