My PIXMA610 Series Printer will not start up.

My PIXMA610 Series Printer will not turn on.  Doesn't seem to be getting power.

It worked fine yesterday but today when I went to turn it on I found the unit unplugged.  After reinserting the plug it would not turn on. Live alone with no pets. Strange.

Any ideas? Is there a reset button?

Priniter is a PIXMA MP610 series

Hello jeharter.

To try and resolve this issue, please unplug the power from the unit for about 25-30 minutes.  Once this time frame has passed, plug the unit in directly to a wall outlet to see if the printer will power on.

Unfortunately, if the issue persists, please contact our support group using the link below for additional assistance with this issue.

Thank you for your help.  The printer did respond after unplugging the cord for an hour.  Unfortunately it is now giving me an error message that the print head is not correct and to install the correct print head.

Any ideas how to reset this?

Thank you

Jim

Hi jeharter,

I would recommend trying to remove and reseat the print head to try and resolve the issue.  Use the following steps to reseat the print head:

  1. Make sure that the power is turned on, and open the Paper Output Tray gently

  2. Lift the scanning unit (printer cover) completely. (The print head will move to the replacement position.)

  3. Remove all the Ink Tanks in the following manner.

Push the tab (A) and lift the ink tank to remove.

Do not touch the Print Head Lock Lever (B).

  4. Raise the print head lock lever.

  5. Tilt the print head slightly towards the front of the machine and lift out gently.

    * Images that follow are taken from the MP600. The procedure is the same for the MP620.

Caution: Do not touch the print head nozzles <1> , electrical contacts <2>, or ink supply ports <3>. Doing so may cause printing problems.

  6. Place the print head in the print head holder and lower the print head lock lever carefully until you hear a click.

  7. Insert ink tanks into the print head.

  8. Press the mark <PUSH> on the ink tank firmly until you hear a click.

  9. Close the inner cover and the scanning unit (printer cover).

Did as you advised but the error code U052 came up again - the type of print head is incorrect.  Install the correct print head.

Do you have any additional thoughts?
