MX492 lost "open scanner" dialog box

I'm using a MacBook Pro running OS Monterey 12.5.1. When I open System Preferences / Printers & Scanners I can see my MX 492 listed under "Printers." There was always a dialog box under the printer name that said "Open Scanner." This box is no longer there. I think I have the most current driver (16.40.1.0). But nothing else has changed. Grateful for any thoughts on this. Thank you.

Hi dfmarcus63,

Has the scanner driver for your PIXMA MX492 been installed?  Please click this link:

https://www.usa.canon.com/support/p/pixma-mx490---mx492

Once that page loads, please click "Software & Drivers".

In the list that appears, please click the Download button to the right of "ICA Driver Ver. 5.0.0 (Mac)". 

When that download is complete, please open/run "misd-mac-ijscanner15s-5_0_0-ea21_3.dmg" to install the scanner driver.

You can then also install the IJ Scan Utiltiy2 and use that application to scan with your PIXMA MX492.
