I have been having a problem with poor quality black printing. When I remove the black ink cartridge, I notice that the "landing pad" where the cartridge sits when it is not printing is very wet with black ink. In addition, the printing face of the cartridge itself is wet with ink.
When I clean up the mess, normal printing is restored but soon the problem returns along with all the excess ink.
I bought a new black ink cartridge, it started out fine but now I've got the wet ink mess again that sooner or later gives a poor printout.
I have drilled a hole in the top of the cartridge so that it can be refilled with ink. Is it possible the opening of the ink tank to normal air pressure may be allowing the ink to drain out of the print head?
