MP250 canon inkjet not recognized anymore usb connection

Carlosmg

Hi,

So my canon MP250 stopped being recognized by my computer (and another one). The printer/scan works find, but now when I plug it to my computer or any new computer it doesn't recognize it anymore.

I've tried in MacOS Monterey, and in the latest Ubuntu, and nothing. In Ubuntu I see this messages in the dmesg:

[86507.439716] usb usb3-port5: attempt power cycle
[86508.091648] usb 3-5: new full-speed USB device number 25 using xhci_hcd
[86508.091973] usb 3-5: Device not responding to setup address.
[86508.299795] usb 3-5: Device not responding to setup address.
[86508.511741] usb 3-5: device not accepting address 25, error -71
[86508.639750] usb 3-5: new full-speed USB device number 26 using xhci_hcd
[86508.639973] usb 3-5: Device not responding to setup address.

can anybody help me debug this issue?

Thanks for letting us know what Canon product you've got. The PIXMA MP250 is an older model which we have retired. While that means that Canon USA no longer offers direct support for it, your friends here in the Canon Community are welcome to offer suggestions!

You can also speak with a Canon Upgrade Program specialist to help you score a modern replacement that would meet your current needs at a discount. You can reach them weekdays and Saturdays at 1-866-443-8002.

Hope this helps!

thanks Danny, yes, it's a pretty old model, but yeah, I was wondering if any in the community can help me/or has had a similar issue. Seems the printer is working great except for that.

I've tried on another computer with windows with different usb cables and still I don't see the printer seems it's not detected by usb.
