MP Navigator not working

Gumby385

I have a Pixma MG5220.  I am running Windows 8.1, 64-bit.  The printer works fine, no prolems.  However, I just installed MP Navigator 4.0.  I had no problems with the installation, but when I try to actually run it, I get this error message:

Cannot start the MP Navigator EX. Check the following points.

1. The supported model of this software is as follows.  Check your product model is listed.

MG5200

When your product model is not listed, install correspondent MP Navigator or MP Navigator EX.

2. MP dirver/scanner drive which supports your product model is installed.

3. Your product model is connected to PC properly and the power is ON, if there is a power supply.

4. Reconnect the USB cable when connected with USB.

#1 is obiviously not the problem.  I don't think #2 could be, if the printer works???  #3 is not the problem, nor is #4 (wireless connection).

Any ideas???  I'd really love to be able to scan.

THanks!

Hello.

Since the printer is being used wirelessly, the IJ Network Scan Utility will have to be running in order to access the scanner on the network.  Please try the following to see if we can resolve your issue:

1. On your keyboard, press the 'Windows' key. This is usually on the lower left corner.

2. Begin typing Canon IJ Network.

3. Go to Canon IJ Network Scan Utility.

4. Open the Canon IJ Network Scan Utility.

Once this has been done, a small scanner icon should appear near your clock on the bottom corner of the screen.

Next, follow these steps:

1. Open the MP Navigator on your Desktop or the Canon Utilities listing of the Start Menu.

2. Click Preferences.

3. In the Product dropdown menu, select the Network version of the printer.

4. Click OK.

Once this has been done, try scanning from the MP Navigator to test the connection.
