MP Navigator for Canon Pixma MP210

I have a Canon Pixma MP210, I have an issue with its scanning software MP Navigator EX Ver.1. When I begin to scan, I get an error message

Printer maintenance is in progress. Scan after it is complete

Code: 2,114,0

Any help in mitigating this issue would be appreciated.

The PIXMA MP210 is an older model which we have retired. That means Canon USA no longer offers software updates or direct support for it, however the Canon Community is welcome to offer suggestions.
