Did you install the printer driver/software BEFORE connecting printer to computer? This is a common error. Canon tells you to install software FIRST, before connecting them.
If this is the case, you need to completely UNINSTALL the driver and apps, restart the computer, and go through the process again.

Greetings ,
Since you mentioned router we'll assume you're not trying to use wireless direct.
The MG3620 requires a 2.4 GHz broadcast that uses WPA2 encryption. Please confirm your network mates's requirements.
If your router is dual or tri-band and uses the same SSID name for multiple broadcasts. This can cause connectivity issues.
To mitigate you can give each broadcast a unique name or temporarily disable the broadcast that the Printer cannot connect to and re-enable them once a successful connection is made. If your security is set to WPA3, the printer will not connect. Please ensure you are using WPA2 encryption on the 2.4 GHz broadcast or combination wpa3/wpa2 for backwards compatibility.
The printer must be put into wireless setup mode in order to connect.

Expand detailed instructions and ensure the printer is correctly configured before running the installation utility. It will not be detected unless this is done.
Third party antivirus can also interfere with the connection process.

Oops!. pardon my first response, about using a USB connection. It was at 2:00 a.m. and I wasn't thinking clearly.
To begin, you need to see if the Wi-Fi lamp is illuminated on the operator panel. If it is not, the printer is set for a USB connection. Follow the steps in the User manual to see how to enable Wi-Fi.

If this doesn't let the computer see the printer, check out the instruction in the manual.
Also look to see if WiFi is enabled on the printer. If it is set for USB the computer will not see it.
