MG3150 Win7 driver without all the crud?

Hello folks,

I recently reinstalled my wife's laptop with Win7, and now I am looking for a driver for the Canon PIXMA MG3150. I can download the one available on the support website but it contains all sorts of extra software and monitors that take up CPU time and memory but add little useful functionality.

She had Win8.1 on the computer for a while (she didn't like how it performed, so I removed it), and it came with an inbox driver for the MG3150 that was clean and lean—no unneccessary bundled crapware. Is there such a driver for Win7? Or perhaps it is possible to lift the driver from Win8.1, and use it in Win7?

I found a way that worked for me:

• Download the MP driver package (mp68-win-mg3100-1_02-ea24.exe).
• Run the executable but do not advance through the installer.
• Copy the drivers from %TEMP%\WZSE0.TMP to another location.
• Cancel the installer.
• In Devices and Printers, click Add a printer, and go through the wizard which should find the printer connected to WiFi.
• Windows should be able to find the drivers automatically.

Done! 🙂
