MG2220 printer

I have a briefly used MG2220 printer (in storage) that has a couple of minor problems from sitting. Powers up fine and operates but ink tanks are dry since it hardly prints at all. Ink absorber pads are identified and can be cleaned easily, but does this model have an actual printer head? Aren't the ink tanks themselves the "printer head" sitting in the plastic cradle? It's not like some newer models on youtube showing the print head removal and manual cleaning process.

Hi carbon,

The printheads that are used are contained within each ink cartridge that are installed on your PIXMA MG2220.

If you are experiencing poor print quality, you can try performing a few prinhtead cleanings.

If the issue remains, it is recommended that both ink cartridges are replaced.

To perform a printhead cleaning:

 1.  Ensure that the printer is powered on and the LED displays a 1.

 2.  Press the <Maintenance> button once to display [H].

 3.  Press the Black Start button. The cleaning will commence.

Thanks for responding. I figured this out along the way and purchased 2 new tanks. Now prints perfectly. Did have another question however. The paper "uptake" is slow for some reason. It does not pull the paper into the machine fast as it once did. Once in, it prints beautifully though. Hardly have used this printer. Scanning is incredibly sharp too.
