Has anyone tried purchasing a broken (for parts) Canon printer and swapped the broken hinges for working ones?
Also, it seems like the MG8120 printer uses identical hinges as the MG8220 as well as MG5350 and MG6120 models - can anyone confirm if this is indeed the case?

Greetings,
The Canon Parts Department would be your best bet for cross-referencing parts. The MG 8120 is 14 yrs old. Getting parts for it would be extremely challenging.

I tried to glue my broken pieces together using E6000 glue, but that didn't work.
I decided to try building a replacement - using HDPE panels. 2 x 3/16" for the sides to hold the hinge screws, and 1 x 3/4" thick piece for the center. I cut them using a hacksaw and coping saw, then filed them to the shape I needed. Screwed it all together, and it works!
