MG 5422 Printer Support Code 1681

My printer is not new - I have changed ink tanks many times over the years.  I am now getting this Support Code 1681 error.  The code would indicate I'm using the wrong ink tank.  I have replaced all tanks and still have the same error code.  The one tank that is consistently singled as wrong is my small black #251.  What's wrong?

Greetings,

Usually this error means you have 2 of the same ink colors installed.

If all of the ink tanks are new and the error persists, it would appear that your PIXMA MG5422 would require service.  You are eligible for Canon's Upgrade Program. This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service, or for some reason are incompatible with a new or upgraded system. This option allows you a one-time opportunity to purchase a replacement product, discounted from the list price.
